Connecting your Instagram account

Step-by-step instructions for connecting Instagram to Scroll Ready, including the business / professional account requirement.

Instagram is the most common starting channel for cafés, salons, clinics and tradies. Here’s exactly how to connect it — and what to do if Instagram throws an error along the way.

Before you start

You need an Instagram Business or Creator account. Personal accounts can’t be managed through the official API. If you’re unsure which type you’re on, open the Instagram app on your phone and look at Settings → Account type and tools. If it says “Switch to professional account”, tap it — the change is free and reversible.

Your Instagram account also needs to be linked to a Facebook Page. This is an Instagram requirement, not a Scroll Ready one. If you don’t have a Page yet, connect Facebook first and create one during that flow.

The connection steps

  1. Open Scroll Ready and go to Settings → Channels.
  2. Click Connect Instagram.
  3. You’ll be sent to Facebook to authorise the connection (Instagram uses Facebook’s login under the hood for business accounts).
  4. Tick every permission Facebook asks for. If you un-tick anything, posting or messaging will silently fail later.
  5. Choose the Instagram account you want to connect and confirm.

Common errors

  • “No business accounts found.” Your Instagram is still a personal account — switch it to Business or Creator and try again.
  • “Permissions missing.” You un-ticked one of Facebook’s permission boxes. Disconnect and reconnect, and accept everything this time.
  • Two-factor prompts in a loop. Clear cookies for facebook.com and instagram.com, then retry.
